Do you struggle to sell with stories?

Let’s fix that.

Recently, I shared about how “self-awareness” WITHOUT action is self-indulgence.

Let’s diagnose the “common problems” you might have about WHY it’s not working so we can fix that.

Many people think they're telling great stories, but they often fall short of truly connecting with their audience.

Here's some of the most common “why”:

1. Authenticity vs. Perfection: People polish their stories too much, striving for perfection. This often REMOVES the raw authenticity that makes a story truly resonate.

2. Overthinking the Structure: You don't need a rigid structure. Let the story flow naturally, guided by your genuine emotions and intentions.

3. Ignoring Emotion: Facts might inform, but stories sell. Inject your stories with emotions to create a deeper connection with your audience.

4. Lack of Clarity: Without a clear intention, your story can drift. Know what you want to convey and stick to your message.

5. Too Much Information: Less is more. Don't overwhelm your audience with unnecessary details. Focus on the KEY elements that drive your story forward.

6. Disconnected from Audience: Your story should resonate with your audience's experiences and aspirations. Consider what they're struggling with and what they hope for, and tailor your story accordingly.

7. Fear of Vulnerability: Real stories often involve vulnerability. Don't shy away from sharing your own struggles and triumphs. This authenticity will make your story even more impactful.

Catching yourself making one of these mistakes? Here are some “ways” you can simply fix that.

1. Appreciate the BEAUTY of Imperfection: Write in your own voice. Let your unique personality shine through. Don’t try to be someone you're not.

2. FOCUS on Emotion: Share moments that moved, inspired, or challenged you. Your audience will feel your emotions and connect with your story more deeply.

3. CLARITY is Key: Know your message and stick to it. Every detail should contribute to conveying that message effectively.

4. EDIT Wisely: Refine your story, but don't sanitise it. Preserve the raw emotion and authenticity that makes it powerful.

5. KNOW Your Audience: Write stories that resonate with their journey. Consider their pain points, their aspirations, and their experiences.
